Cross Platform Web & Mobile Design

Fire Safety and Prevention App & Website

About this project

This case study is the capstone of Google UX Design Certificate Program. Utilizing the skills learned through the program and from the previous projects. Including skills such User Research, Ideation, Wireframing and Prototypes, Mockups, and Usability Studies. Alongside the experience gained through the program I wanted to use this project to start to familiarize myself more with Design Systems. Using a design system was important for me for this project as I wanted a uniform language to be used across the various platforms of this design.

Project Overview

The Problem

House fires are an ever present danger for any family or community. With an average of over 350,000 homes a year experiencing a structural fire according to the National Fire Prevention Agency. And an average of nearly 3000 deaths a year due to fire (according to FEMA) There is an ever present danger for fire in any community and an ever present need to make sure communities are equipped with the tools and knowledge to keep themselves safe from fire.

My Solution

Building a multi platform tool that can provide fire safety tips, training, and resources to communities across the country at the touch of a button. Through the use of quick access fact sheets and resources community leaders can build lesson plans and materials to teach their community to be better vigilant of fire. All while reinforcing the knowledge learned through games and activities to engage users of all ages. Through these tools communities can Prepare for, Prevent, and stay safe during a Fire.
