Hello There!

👋 I'm Griffin a Product Designer with a focus on Web and Mobile experiences based in the Greater Boston Area (with ties to Santa Monica). I'm a problem solver at heart and I take that passion into every part of my life and project I work on. I've built my skills off of a knowledge base focused on interactive media and game design, I'm always looking for ways to engage users in my work and keep them coming back for more. I'm not a big fan of sitting still, some may even call me restless. I'm always looking for new work to engage with or something new to learn and master.

I'm proud to have held many different roles over my life, giving me a diverse set of experiences to shape my worldview and skills today. From learning teamwork and comradery on the football field in high school. To advocating for the student body as the representative of student affairs during my 3 years on Becker College's Student Governance Board. Developing my leadership skills and honing my interpersonal skills as a New Student Orientation leader in my final year of college. Working the floor at countless restaurants from college to today has helped me to become an expert at communicating expectations between departments and clients. Through being able to leverage project goals through the lens of stakeholder expectations and client needs from my experience working Sales in a B2B wholesale craft beer distributor. But most of all I excel at bringing all those skills together to bring unique and effective solutions to all the projects I work on.
But most of all I love designing and building products. However I'm a frim believer that building products in a void isn't enough. We need to engage with users on a personal level, understand their wants, needs, and desires. And take that into building the best possible product for everyone involved.

Volunteering Work

One of the things that I hold near and dear to my heart is my time spent volunteering. I've been fortunate to have been taught the benefits of volunteering my time from a young age. It was so important in my community that volunteering for a set amount of hours was a requirement to graduate high school. That drive continued into college where I had the privilege of helping to package meals for the United Way during my student orientation. To then be able to help out again directing new students in the same task as an orientation leader only a couple of years later.
In the past 3 years however I've had the privilege of being a part of the volunteer team that runs Anime Boston one of the largest Anime conventions in the Northeast. In those years I've been involved in some truly memorable moments, and made some incredible connections in the process. From recovering from a flood that took out registration, to reaching fire capacity in the Hynes (30,000 people in case you were wondering). This past year, I took the lead on coordinating a collaboration with the Showa Boston Institute. Guiding the Insitute's international students as volunteers to help run the convention. Helping to lay the groundwork for a relationship we hope will only grow in years to come.

It was through my supervisor at Anime Boston that I was introduced to Code for Boston. A civics coding organization in the Boston area which I have been a part of since the summer of 2024. In my role as a designer at CfB I have had the pleasure of working on some amazing projects. Starting off with working directly with Harvard FCU to help improve the ability for to potential new members to know if they can join. (Check it out Here!) To my current project building a website we hope will help drastically expand access to the resources needed to get a liquor license in Boston. Being able to use my design skills for civic good has been something truly special and every day I am amazed I am able to work alongside experts in their field and everyday people trying to make our city a better place.

When I'm not at work

When I'm not working or at my desk, I'm often sat at the table playing Dungeons and Dragons. Either rolling crits with my dice or sat behind the DM screen building out fantastic worlds that I facilitate for my friends to enjoy. My passion for creation even extends to my hobbies as well, building out scale models of Gundam plastic models with fine details and parts as small as an eraser head. And not to mention telling my own stories with my home cooking that I show off frequently for my friends

When the weather is nice you can find me out of my apartment, you can often catch me hiking along the Wachusett Reservoir. Or trying to find the best restaurant in my city. On weekends, however, you'll be able to find me as part of the Tifosi rooting for Ferrari and Charles Leclerc in Formula One!

The cover of Nir Eyal's "Hooked" a UX book

Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products

By: Nir Eyal

I'm trying to always have at least one UX or Design book on rotation that I am reading at all times. And sometimes it is hard with all the other heavy hitting engrossing books I am reading. But "Hooked" Isn't one of those. Nir Eyal has captured me from page one and I'd like to think the insights this book has are helping me become a better designer.

The cover of John Toland's "The Rising Sun" featuring a mirrored image of two soldiers wave the Japanese Flag

The Rising Sun: The Decline & Fall of the Japanese Empire, 1936-45

By: John Toland

What can only be described as an Epic, John Toland crafts a gripping narrative of Japan in the waning years of its Empire. Spanning over 800 pages this has been one of my toughest reads in recent memory, with every page containing information about a nation rarely explored in modern history but carries such an important impact on our modern world.

Cover of the light novel 86 vol. 4 featuring the protagonist lena cupping her hands while the rest of spearhead squadron stand with their backs to her

86 [EIGHTY-SIX] Vol. 4: Under Pressure

By: Asato Asato

86 Is one of those series I keep coming back to after extended breaks and for many good reasons. All of its main cast are memorable in their own way and a weaves a great story constantly traveling between "Slice of Life" to the cruel realities of war. Its combat is interesting and throws a little spice of fantasy/sci-fi to keep it interesting as well
